TERRY’S ENGRAVING ART

I etch/engrave large blown out egg shells from Ostrich, Emu, Rhea and sometimes goose.

I can etch on cow horns too

Why Choose Terry’s Etched  & Carved Art?

All of my eggs are completely unique.  I may etch the same basic pattern on numerous eggs, but on each one I will change a small part of the pattern so that there will never be two exactly alike.

It seems just about everyone in my family can paint beautiful scenery.  I can’t paint but I did discover that the art gene manifested in me when I started etching eggs.  I started with goose eggs.  I played with different designs I came up with because I thought they would look cool like that. I had each one individually wrapped in paper towel in dixi cups.  I gave them as gifts to friends and family .  I even shipped one to Canada for a couple we met on our honeymoon.

I wanted to try bigger eggs, so I bought me a bunch of Emu eggs because of their dark green shell. I found  that these eggs provided many choices for creating unique etching and carving. I definitely like working with emu eggs.  I went on to Ostrich eggs.  Now those are pretty big eggs   and infinitely stronger than a goose egg😊

For a Christmas gift to my brother I carved the 3 Wise men from the manger scene it turned out great unfortunately I have lost the pattern for it.  I do have plenty more as you can see from my eggs here.

About Us

Terry Brinlee

Artist

Terry used to look at those craft sites that  had the fancy engraved eggs.  He asked what people used to do this and when he found out, he thought he would be able to do it too.  As it turned out he found he had a talent for it.  Terry retired from Working for the City of Duncanville.  A retired guy has to find a hobby and hopefully a way to earn a little extra cash.  Thus his egg art began.  He would make gifts for his family but listing and advertising were difficult.  Terry is married to me now(Teresa) I started with setting up an Etsy account for him an last year he sold some Christmas gifts, but the sales have been fewer and far between than he and I wanted. I am disabled and Terry officially  got his disabled status a few years ago.  Years of using a injackhammer and setting signs(with out using a back brace) in both of his city jobs took a toll on his back and body.  Obviously he has a small amount of income from this and his 2 retirements.  Unfortunately I am disabled as well, but I have been a homemaker all my life.  So, now we are at one of the reasons for starting up this shop.   I buy my empty egg shells on line for my craft.
